a post about a door & a barn but not a barn door...

I love the fact that my dad was raised on a 400 acre farm in Tennessee that he inherited & just now happens to live on! I ALSO love the fact, sad but true, that the barns on his property are falling down...these barns are over 100 yrs. old! Beautiful beautiful wood that they used back then and it just happens to work out that my daddy lets me have as much as I want-yea! It's just a bit of a trek down there so I get it when I can...

On one of the walls in our living room here is where I put some of it to good use! The star was one that we had previously used outside on another home but I didn't know what to do with this wall. Voila! So, already having the star and the wood was free then this worked out for me in so many ways! Simple but lovely and I love the history sleeping in those pieces of wood...every time I look at this I really do think of the farm.

Now for this door, it was on the side of someone's home that I had seen laying there for awhile so I just stopped to ask about it (no fear! Well, not too much!) and the owner said that I could have it for free...just take it! See, all you have to do is ask :)

It needed something & four kiddos were just the thing! **I do know all about lead paint & not knowing for sure about the paint on this door I DID clear seal it...safety first!**

Have a beautiful Thursday & remember, it never hurts to ask :)

I have an addiction...

to ladders...oh yes I do!  In our home, so far, I have 4 and I'm not done yet :)  Here's one example in our kitchen corner...
and then there is the other part of the same ladder
doing her part in our landscape out front!
Yea!!
One ladder, two looks and............

it was 100% free!!
That's the best part :)

Fist pump goes to the hubby...

No way am I a newbie...

I am not new here, not that there's anything wrong with that...I had a:

*cooking blog but I really don't enjoy cooking-eek!
*an "empty" blog...I posted about once a week because I just didn't know what to write about
*a couponing blog...fabulous right?!?! I couldn't keep up with it! Four
kiddos, moving, my own couponing...it didn't work like I wanted it to.

THEN

I said wait a minute...don't wise people say that you should do what makes you happy in life & then it's not really work? Well, I LOVE to decorate with "found" items, old wood/doors/windows, antiques, chippy paint items, etc...I have found great joy in making our house a home & I thought why not share THAT with others? Maybe, just maybe, someone else can start to look at items that might just be laying around and put them to good use! Make them scream WELCOME HOME when you walk in the door...that might be a little stretch but do ya get what I'm sayin'? I sure hope so and so away we go!
